About Me

Editor’s note: I’ll be adding to this periodically. Here’s what I have so far:

I’ve gotten malaria and heat rash at the same time (and lived).

I’ve participated in my middle school’s 5th grade spelling bee and lost because I misspelled “refrigerator”.

I’ve been to the Sears Tower, Statue of Liberty, and have contemplated jumping off of both to see what it’s like to fly for a few seconds.

I’ve been to New York and Texas, both times involving me visiting my aunt.

I’ve never been to the movie theatre more than 10 times.

I’ve tried to start my first website on Geocities at 8 years old. I didn’t have the support of my parents so it eventually fell through.

I’ve gone from watching TV for hours everyday from ages 5 to 17, to watching none at all for months at a time.

I’ve participated in Laughter Flash Chicago sponsored by the Levity Project where we laughed for 3 hours with small breaks in between.

I’ve been rejected. I’ve been accepted. I’ve crushed the hearts of many.

I’ve read Atlas Shrugged once and constantly refer to it as one of the greatest books I’ve ever read.

I’ve ridden a horse for 3 minutes.

I’ve gotten chased by a supposedly domesticated dingo in Nigeria.

I’ve collaborated with a friend in preschool to eat my teacher’s (she was a nun) engagement present: a chocolate rose.

I’ve tried to swim on countless occasions.

I’ve been to Amsterdam for a day—they have nice gift shops in their airports.

I’ve won my first (and probably last) contest and received a toy cow.

I’ve witnessed someone I knew get punched in the face by a guy who went on to become his best friend. The guy who got punched is dead now.

I’ve participated in my first (and last) track meet at Thornton High School. I came in last.

I’ve never shed a tear since the day I graduated high school.

I’ve hated and been hated. As opposed to what you may think, I enjoyed it.

However, I’ve been hurt many times through this hate. That’s why I think hate and love are two sides of the same coin.

I’ve never had a best friend (singular). I believe there are either people who are close to you or people you aren’t.

I’ve never voted and don’t plan to.

I’ve been in a car accident when I was an infant. Obviously, I don’t remember that ever happening.

I had my first ever telephone conversation with my first (and last) best friend when I was 7. My parents were listening in the other room.

I’ve chased cats and pulled their tails while I was in Nigeria (age 7 or 8). Their pain made me laugh.

I’ve never been in a fight. I’ve stopped them. I’ve only gotten close to fighting one time.

I’ve never held the exact same grudge for more than 24 hours. I lose interest.

I’ve never been inspired by a single teacher in college the way I’ve been by a select few teachers in high school. They don’t teach there anymore.

I’ve had dreams about people that I never would’ve expected. They felt so real until I woke up.

I’ve gotten a lot of free stuff just by acting polite and flashing a smile. Most of it I’ve received from girls.

I’ve wanted to be many things, like a basketball player, a paleontologist, a surgeon, a police officer, a cook, a writer, etc. My parents only offered to help with the first and third one. With the last one I had to help myself.

I’ve never settled for what I didn’t like. I usually do whatever it takes to get what I want.

Alltop, confirmation that I kick ass

    Hey dude,

I had a feeling you may have been an Objectivist – and then I read your creed at the bottom of this page =)

Keep at it sir – it’s a worthwhile journey.
